Grade 3 Violin Residency
(3-307, 3-308 and 3-310)
The Individual Student Reports were distributed to all grade 4 and grade 5 students. Please thoroughly review the results of the 2013 New York State ELA and New York State Math exams administered in the spring of 2013. This was the first administration of state assessments aligned to the Common Core State Standards, CCSS. As reported throughout the 2012-2013 school year and this school year, we know that the students did not perform to the same level as in the past.
At our school and every school in New York State, we continue to work to improve our students’ outcomes on all assessments. Meeting the expectations of the Common Core Learning Standards, CCLS, continue to be the benchmark for our work. Resources are available to parents at the New York City Department of Education website, email@example.com, and the New York State Education Department website, engageny.org. You may access both websites independently or from our school website, ps208.org. Please note that these websites will be of value to all parents with students in grades kindergarten through grade 5.
Additionally, our school will continue to provide parent workshops to provide parents with information to support you. It is extremely important that all parents participate in the Parent Teacher conferences scheduled for Thursday, November 14, 2103. Parents will meet their children’s teachers and be informed of the children’s progress. Teachers will provide parents with evidence of each child’s work as measured to the expected work for the grade. The teachers will also provide parents with suggestions to assist in supporting the students at home.
I look forward to working with all of the families of P.S. 208K. Our students and families have always been able to reach the highest of expectations and with your support and participation; we will continue to meet these expectations.
